Concept: The PokenTelePortal

12/04/2009

(Engels)

pokenteleportalAs the Poken could be the archetype of off-line social networking, collecting Poken ID’s is still limited to the owner’s ability to travel. It’s simply not possible to connect Poken ID’s across the globe when one does not travel! I am organizing an event (#happokening020) which offers the Poken owners a place to bring the Poken handshake into action.

Mimicking social networks is only feasible when one is not limited to location. That’s why, I am suggesting a practice without the limitations of place. This is what I thought of. The PokenTelePortal should be a funny extension to the happening. The PokenTelePortal will offer (1) an entertaining contribution in bringing Poken owners together and (2) facilitate live meet-ups during Happenings simultaneously all over the world!

06/03/2009

(Engels)

IWAGU is pronounced as: ‘I Wag You’ and stands for Identification by Webcam And Gesture Utilization. Not to be confused with ‘I kill you’. He (Lessig 2006 p.42) states that we constantly are negotiating processes of authentication in real life, and in this process, better technologies and better credentials enable more distant authentication. In real space anonymity has to be created, in cyberspace anonymity is the given (Lessig 2006 p.45).

and it triggered this analogy…

Concept: using Twitter for book summaries

16/02/2009

(Engels)

Every university- or college student has to deal with books to build a foundation on your knowledge within a field of expertise. My learning method is no different than method other students use. This is my method; the first step is using my magic marker to highlight important text. Then I’ll collect the marked area’s and will write them down in a chronological order by using MS Word. finally, I will summarize the most important bits into a readable and coherent text. As far as I know, their is not really a practice of working together in summarizing lectures. Google Docs has the functionality, but I don’t use it often…
